The Workshop |

The little building at the edge of High House is a curious one, and an example of two halves. Firstly, and where the name originates, comes from the open fronted section in the photograph below being used as the farmsteads workshop. |

On the left is the interior of the brick fronted part of the workshop, which had a very interesting floor, probably set with these grooves to keep harvested crops dry- very much like the granary. |

The evolution of this building demonstrate well the social history of Purfleet and the country, as its construction coincides with the industrial revolution, ushering in a new era on the farm with tractors and other automation. | ||
